This article is intended to provide some guidance for parents of adolescents who may be obsessed with computer and / or video games.
Let’s face it: games can be addictive. Game designers use every trick not only make the game interesting, but keep the account when completing tasks, leveling up or scoring more points.
Yes, games can be addictive, but the obsession is something else. I am concerned about any young person, that seeks to avoid normal activities, in order to arrive at a constant game.
As you know, attracted to the game gone too far? Think about the normal development of human potential. If young neglecting other interests in life in favor of gambling, in the place where they leave the company, it may be a sign of obsession.
It is not always easy to detect signs of teenage obsession with the game, especially in the early stages. As it starts with interest, and develops into drug addiction, we want to confront the teenagers about their behavior. It is here that we must be careful not to let the discussion turn into a battle.
Many children are quick to learn how to discuss skills, and if we begin the discussion in accusing tone, no more problems. Instead of questioning their motives are repeated game, focus on the praise for any good behavior, and stick to the facts. Teens often refute our concerns with logic and their arguments may seem convincing. They can point to our own shortcomings as parents and make comparisons with other children who are allowed to play games for several hours each day.
As parents we sometimes think that because we know more than our children, we should be able to send their way and not allow our own shortcomings. Strenuous denials from our teenagers can convince us that maybe, 5 hours spent in front of video games is not so bad. After all, that we spend a lot of time on the phone, on our computers, or using our Blackberries or other gadgets.
It is important to do for your teenager to control their time on video games. Do not let your teenagers logical to argue with you about the games they could win! Instead, to show that you care about their lives, limiting their time spent playing, before it gets out of hand.
